At MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS), Bengaluru, student life extends far beyond the classroom. The institution encourages active participation in academic forums, legal training initiatives, cultural programmes and leadership platforms that help students develop practical skills alongside their legal education.

Through initiatives such as the Moot Court Academy, Mediation Centre, Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series, Debate and Literary Society, and Environment Club, RVILS provides students with opportunities to engage with contemporary legal issues, develop advocacy and research skills, and participate in discussions that shape their professional outlook.

Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series

Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series is a continuing academic initiative at RVILS that brings distinguished speakers from law and allied fields to engage with students on contemporary issues and professional development. The series creates a space for reflection, discussion and exposure to different perspectives that extend beyond the classroom.

23rd Nyaya Darpana Lecture series

The 23rd Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series was held at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies on the theme Role of International Institutions in the Present Day World”. The distinguished guest speaker was Prof. (Dr) T.R. Subramanya, Dean, School of Legal Studies, CMR University.

In his insightful and scholarly lecture, he elaborated on the evolving role of International institutions such as the United Nations, World Trade Organisation and International Court of Justice in addressing pressing global challenges. He emphasised the growing importance of International co-operation in ensuring global peace, economic stability and sustainable development. Drawing from his vast experience in the field of International Law, he highlighted how India’s participation in global institutions reflects its emerging leadership on the world stage.

The presence of Prof. (Dr) Anjina Reddy K.R. added significance to the programme. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who engaged in an enriching session with the speaker.

The lecture inspired young legal scholars to develop a deeper understanding of international governance and to think critically about the role of law in promoting global justice.

Mediation Centre

The Mediation Centre at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) promotes awareness and practical training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The Centre provides students with opportunities to develop negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills through academic programmes, experiential learning initiatives and participation in national mediation competitions.

Through visits to dispute resolution institutions, clinical training programmes and competitive platforms, students gain valuable exposure to the practice and procedures of mediation, arbitration and other ADR mechanisms, strengthening their professional readiness for contemporary legal practice.

RVILS Secures Runner-Up Mediator Award at 1st National Mediation Competition 2025

A team from MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) delivered an outstanding performance at the 1st National Mediation Competition 2025, hosted by Presidency University, Bengaluru, on 15th and 16th November, 2025.
The team comprised:

The team competed in both marital and commercial dispute propositions, demonstrating strong mediation, advocacy and negotiation skills. Their performance placed the team among the Top 16 teams in the competition.

Individually, R. Lakshmi Ranganatha advanced as one of the Top Mediators and ultimately secured the Runner-Up Mediator Award along with a cash prize of ₹10,000.

A Certificate Course on Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems was conducted for the 8th Semester B.A., LL.B. and B.B.A., LL.B. students of MKPM RVILS as a part of their Clinical Course on ADRs from 14th March, 2025 to 16th April, 2025. The course instructor was Shri. Prasad Subbanna, Advocate and Mediator, LAWGistics, Bengaluru, accompanied by Ms. Ashawari Behera, Advocate, Bengaluru. The course was conducted in three batches. The Inauguration was held on 14th March and the Valedictory was conducted on 16th April, 2025 at Mangala Mantapa and presided over by our Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K. R.

A Certificate Course on Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems was conducted for the VIII Semester B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B. students of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) as part of their Clinical Course on ADR.

The programme was conducted from 14th March, 2025, to 16th April, 2025, and was organised in three batches.

Moot Court Academy

The Moot Court Academy at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) trains students in courtroom advocacy through simulated court proceedings, memorial drafting and participation in moot court competitions. Students research legal issues, prepare written submissions and present oral arguments before judges and legal practitioners. The Academy supports participation in inter-collegiate and National Moot Court competitions, helping students develop practical advocacy skills alongside their academic study of law.

Mooting helps in the overall development of an individual as a proficient lawyer, and participating in Moot Court competitions regularly give a good exposure to legal proceedings that take place generally in real courtrooms. In this process the students gain the following benefits:

The competition comprised multiple stages, including Judge Briefings, Researchers’ Test, Draw of Lots and Exchange of Memorials, Preliminary Rounds (I & II), Quarter-Final and Semi-Final Rounds, and the Grand Final Round.

The students of RVILS attended a Model Parliament training session organised by the YMCA. The programme was presided over by Mr Harish N., Advocate, High Court of Karnataka, and was attended by the Member Secretary and Chairman of YMCA.

The session provided students with practical exposure to the functioning of the Legislature and Parliamentary procedures. Students of RVILS also demonstrated the Entry and Exit of the President, including the Presidential Address and the National Anthem, which form key segments of a Model Parliament session.

MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) organised the 2nd All India Moot Court Competition, 2024 from 1st to 3rd March, 2024, bringing together law students from institutions across the country to participate in competitive courtroom advocacy.

Environment Club

The Environment Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) encourages students to actively engage with issues relating to environmental protection and sustainable living. Through awareness programmes, plantation drives, expert sessions and student initiatives, the club promotes ecological responsibility and environmental consciousness. The activities of the club help students understand the intersection between environmental law and civic responsibility.

The Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) provides a platform for students to develop critical thinking, public speaking and analytical skills. The society organises debates, essay competitions, quizzes and literary events that encourage students to engage with contemporary legal, social and political issues. Kannada Rajyotsava Literary Competitions – 2024

In connection with the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations, the Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) organised a series of literary and cultural competitions from 21st to 23rd November, 2024, to encourage student engagement with Kannada language and literature.

The Siddhanta Constitutional Quiz 2024 was organised to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The poster of the quiz was unveiled on 26th October, 2024 at Yuvapatha, Jayanagar, by Shri Ganapathi Prasanna, Special Public Prosecutor, Directorate of Enforcement, Bengaluru Zone.

A total of 30 teams from various institutes across Bengaluru registered for the competition. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Smt. Lakshmi Iyengar, Senior Advocate, High Court of Karnataka, following which the quiz competition was conducted in three rounds – preliminary round, semi-finals and finals.

Results

  • First Prize: Siddarth and Sushant Patil – KLE Law College
  • Second Prize: Apul Vaishnav and Suvansh Mahajan – National Law School of India University

The Siddhanta Constitutional Quiz 2024 was organised to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. Human Rights Cell

The Human Rights Cell at RVILS works to promote awareness and understanding of human rights among students. The cell organises lectures, discussions, competitions and outreach activities focusing on contemporary human rights issues at the National and International levels. Through these initiatives, students are encouraged to develop sensitivity towards issues of justice and equality while strengthening their commitment to constitutional values.

Vision

The vision of the cell is to have the focal point for Human Rights practice in the campus and to be accessible to everyone and also to visualize a comprehensive society where everyone takes responsibility to promote and preserve human rights.

Mission

  • Is to promote, preserve and implement human rights through effective institutional policy development, capability building and control of human rights violations.
  • By supporting each other in and out of the college campus through the awareness of Human Rights and protection of Human Rights by monitoring and accessing the observance of human rights through education and training the students on human rights issues.

Objectives 

  • To educate and create greater awareness of human rights.
  • To create sensitivity and enhance the knowledge of human rights among the people in and around the college by organising various awareness programmes.
  • To educate and train the students on Human Rights.
  • To provide accurate and timely information about Human Rights Violation in India.
  • To respond against the violation of human right issues reported in the college by raising the voice in a proper platform and thereby facilitating the protection of human rights.
  • To study and examine cases of human rights in and around the campus.
  • To work to ensure that basic human rights are respected everywhere.

Role and Responsibility 

  • To foster a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and rights of each individual.
  • To prevent, report and discourage discrimination and harassment by others.
  • To uplift the universal responsibilities of human beings in the society such as ethnicity, nationality, religion or sex.

SC/ST Cell

The SC/ST Cell of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) works to ensure an inclusive academic environment for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. It provides guidance on scholarships, welfare schemes and institutional support mechanisms available to eligible students. It also organises awareness programmes and academic interactions that highlight constitutional safeguards, social justice and the contributions of historically marginalised communities, encouraging students to engage with issues of equality and representation within the legal framework.

Objectives 

  • To counsel and guide students in their academic and personal issues during college life.
  • To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising from events on campus.
  • To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the Constitution of India.
  • To arrange special opportunities to enhance career growth.
  • To create awareness among students regarding various scholarship programmes of the State Government and UGC.
  • To take measures to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India and UGC.
  • To create and maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment for SC/ST staff and students on campus.
  • To address the issues of staff and students belonging to SC/ ST in the Institute and to prevent atrocities against them.
  • To comply with AICTE regulations for the establishment of the Committee for SC/ST (as per the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, No. 33 of 1989, dated 11/09/1989).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To look into complaints, if any, received from staff and students belonging to SC/ST.
  • To provide adequate relief to aggrieved persons, if any.
  • To spread awareness about the rights and facilities available to the target beneficiaries.

Celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

The SC/ST Cell of RVILS, in association with the NSS Unit, organised a programme on 15th November, 2025, to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, observed annually to honour the contributions of India’s tribal communities and the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.

The event marked the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda and introduced first-year law students to the historical significance of tribal movements in India. The programme highlighted Birsa Munda’s leadership during the Ulgulan movement and his efforts to protect tribal rights and cultural identity. The contributions of Komaram Bheem in mobilising tribal communities and advocating self-determination were also discussed.

The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS and Ms. Bhavana C., NSS Programme Officer and IQAC Coordinator. The celebration reinforced the values of inclusivity, social justice and respect for indigenous heritage among students.

NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) encourages students to develop discipline and a spirit of national service. Through training activities, camps and community initiatives, the NCC programme instils values of responsibility, teamwork, discipline and physical fitness among students. Participation in NCC also provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and contribute to nation-building.

NCC Students Enrolment Drive (Academic Year 2025–2026)

Date: 8th September, 2025

The NCC Unit of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) conducted the NCC Students Enrolment Drive for the academic year 2025–2026 in association with 1 KAR Signal Regiment NCC and 6 KAR Battalion NCC, Bengaluru.

The programme was attended by Lt. Col. Kush Shandil, Administrative Officer, 1 KAR Signal Regiment NCC, along with Hav. Harbhajan Singh and ESM Lokesh. The event was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS.

During the session, Lt. Col. Shandil addressed students on the role of NCC and the opportunities available for cadets. The enrolment process included awareness sessions, physical and medical fitness tests, entrance tests and personal interviews.

A total of 41 students participated, out of which 19 cadets were selected and enrolled, while 4 cadets were placed on reserve.

Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series is a continuing academic initiative at RVILS that brings distinguished speakers from law and allied fields to engage with students on contemporary issues and professional development. The series creates a space for reflection, discussion and exposure to different perspectives that extend beyond the classroom.

The 23rd Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series was held at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies on the theme Role of International Institutions in the Present Day World”. The distinguished guest speaker was Prof. (Dr) T.R. Subramanya, Dean, School of Legal Studies, CMR University.

In his insightful and scholarly lecture, he elaborated on the evolving role of International institutions such as the United Nations, World Trade Organisation and International Court of Justice in addressing pressing global challenges. He emphasised the growing importance of International co-operation in ensuring global peace, economic stability and sustainable development. Drawing from his vast experience in the field of International Law, he highlighted how India’s participation in global institutions reflects its emerging leadership on the world stage.

The presence of Prof. (Dr) Anjina Reddy K.R. added significance to the programme. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who engaged in an enriching session with the speaker.

The lecture inspired young legal scholars to develop a deeper understanding of international governance and to think critically about the role of law in promoting global justice.

The programme was also graced by the presence of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R. The lecture covered all aspects concerning the law of limitation and what limitation exists on all sorts of disputes and cases. The lecture provided invaluable insights to our students of the 8th and 10th Semester B.A.,LL.B. and B.B.A.,LL.B. programmes. The programme ended with the felicitation of the guest by our Principal.

Mediation Centre

The Mediation Centre at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) promotes awareness and practical training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The Centre provides students with opportunities to develop negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills through academic programmes, experiential learning initiatives and participation in national mediation competitions.

Through visits to dispute resolution institutions, clinical training programmes and competitive platforms, students gain valuable exposure to the practice and procedures of mediation, arbitration and other ADR mechanisms, strengthening their professional readiness for contemporary legal practice.

Runner-Up Mediator Award at 1st National Mediation Competition 2025

A team from MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) delivered an outstanding performance at the 1st National Mediation Competition 2025, hosted by Presidency University, Bengaluru, on 15th and 16th November, 2025.

The team comprised:

  • Lakshmi Ranganatha – Mediator
  • Abhinandan U. Mirji – Advocate
  • Sadiya Shiffa R – Client

The team competed in both marital and commercial dispute propositions, demonstrating strong mediation, advocacy and negotiation skills. Their performance placed the team among the Top 16 teams in the competition.

Individually, R. Lakshmi Ranganatha advanced as one of the Top Mediators and ultimately secured the Runner-Up Mediator Award along with a cash prize of ₹10,000.

The team expressed gratitude to the organisers and acknowledged the guidance and mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K. R., Principal, RVILS, whose support contributed to their achievement.

Certificate Course on Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems – Clinical ADR Training Programme

A Certificate Course on Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems was conducted for the 8th Semester B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B. students of RVILS as part of their Clinical Course on ADR. The programme was held from 14th March, 2025 to 16th April, 2025 and was organised in three batches.

Moot Court Academy

The Moot Court Academy at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) trains students in courtroom advocacy through simulated court proceedings, memorial drafting and participation in moot court competitions. Students research legal issues, prepare written submissions and present oral arguments before judges and legal practitioners. The Academy supports participation in inter-collegiate and National Moot Court competitions, helping students develop practical advocacy skills alongside their academic study of law.

Environment Club

The Environment Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) encourages students to actively engage with issues relating to environmental protection and sustainable living. Through awareness programmes, plantation drives, expert sessions and student initiatives, the club promotes ecological responsibility and environmental consciousness. The activities of the club help students understand the intersection between environmental law and civic responsibility.

The Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) provides a platform for students to develop critical thinking, public speaking and analytical skills. The society organises debates, essay competitions, quizzes and literary events that encourage students to engage with contemporary legal, social and political issues. Through these activities, students enhance their ability to articulate ideas, analyse, make legitimate arguments and participate in meaningful intellectual discussions.

In connection with the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations, the Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) organised a series of literary and cultural competitions from 21st to 23rd November, 2024, to encourage student engagement with Kannada language and literature.

The competitions included:

Human Rights Cell

The Human Rights Cell at RVILS works to promote awareness and understanding of human rights among students. The cell organises lectures, discussions, competitions and outreach activities focusing on contemporary human rights issues at the National and International levels. Through these initiatives, students are encouraged to develop sensitivity towards issues of justice and equality while strengthening their commitment to constitutional values.

Vision

The vision of the cell is to have the focal point for Human Rights practice in the campus and to be accessible to everyone and also to visualize a comprehensive society where everyone takes responsibility to promote and preserve human rights.

Mission

  • Is to promote, preserve and implement human rights through effective institutional policy development, capability building and control of human rights violations.
  • By supporting each other in and out of the college campus through the awareness of Human Rights and protection of Human Rights by monitoring and accessing the observance of human rights through education and training the students on human rights issues.

Objectives 

  • To educate and create greater awareness of human rights.
  • To create sensitivity and enhance the knowledge of human rights among the people in and around the college by organising various awareness programmes.
  • To educate and train the students on Human Rights.
  • To provide accurate and timely information about Human Rights Violation in India.
  • To respond against the violation of human right issues reported in the college by raising the voice in a proper platform and thereby facilitating the protection of human rights.
  • To study and examine cases of human rights in and around the campus.
  • To work to ensure that basic human rights are respected everywhere.

  • To foster a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and rights of each individual.

SC/ST Cell

The SC/ST Cell of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) works to ensure an inclusive academic environment for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. It provides guidance on scholarships, welfare schemes and institutional support mechanisms available to eligible students. It also organises awareness programmes and academic interactions that highlight constitutional safeguards, social justice and the contributions of historically marginalised communities, encouraging students to engage with issues of equality and representation within the legal framework.

Objectives 

  • To counsel and guide students in their academic and personal issues during college life.
  • To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising from events on campus.
  • To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the Constitution of India.
  • To arrange special opportunities to enhance career growth.
  • To create awareness among students regarding various scholarship programmes of the State Government and UGC.
  • To take measures to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India and UGC.
  • To create and maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment for SC/ST staff and students on campus.
  • To address the issues of staff and students belonging to SC/ ST in the Institute and to prevent atrocities against them.
  • To comply with AICTE regulations for the establishment of the Committee for SC/ST (as per the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, No. 33 of 1989, dated 11/09/1989).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To look into complaints, if any, received from staff and students belonging to SC/ST.
  • To provide adequate relief to aggrieved persons, if any.
  • To spread awareness about the rights and facilities available to the target beneficiaries.

Celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

The SC/ST Cell of RVILS, in association with the NSS Unit, organised a programme on 15th November, 2025, to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, observed annually to honour the contributions of India’s tribal communities and the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.

The event marked the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda and introduced first-year law students to the historical significance of tribal movements in India. The programme highlighted Birsa Munda’s leadership during the Ulgulan movement and his efforts to protect tribal rights and cultural identity. The contributions of Komaram Bheem in mobilising tribal communities and advocating self-determination were also discussed.

The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS and Ms. Bhavana C., NSS Programme Officer and IQAC Coordinator. The celebration reinforced the values of inclusivity, social justice and respect for indigenous heritage among students.

The SC/ST Cell of RVILS, in association with the NSS Unit, organised a programme on 15th November, 2025, to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, observed annually to honour the contributions of India’s tribal communities and the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.

The event marked the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda and introduced first-year law students to the historical significance of tribal movements in India. The programme highlighted Birsa Munda’s leadership during the Ulgulan movement and his efforts to protect tribal rights and cultural identity. The contributions of Komaram Bheem in mobilising tribal communities and advocating self-determination were also discussed.

The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS and Ms. Bhavana C., NSS Programme Officer and IQAC Coordinator. The celebration reinforced the values of inclusivity, social justice and respect for indigenous heritage among students.

NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) encourages students to develop discipline and a spirit of national service. Through training activities, camps and community initiatives, the NCC programme instils values of responsibility, teamwork, discipline and physical fitness among students. Participation in NCC also provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and contribute to nation-building.

NCC Students Enrolment Drive (Academic Year 2025–2026)

The NCC Unit of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) conducted the NCC Students Enrolment Drive for the academic year 2025–2026 in association with 1 KAR Signal Regiment NCC and 6 KAR Battalion NCC, Bengaluru.

The programme was attended by Lt. Col. Kush Shandil, Administrative Officer, 1 KAR Signal Regiment NCC, along with Hav. Harbhajan Singh and ESM Lokesh. The event was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS.

During the session, Lt. Col. Shandil addressed students on the role of NCC and the opportunities available for cadets. The enrolment process included awareness sessions, physical and medical fitness tests, entrance tests and personal interviews.

A total of 41 students participated, out of which 19 cadets were selected and enrolled, while 4 cadets were placed on reserve.

Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series is a continuing academic initiative at RVILS that brings distinguished speakers from law and allied fields to engage with students on contemporary issues and professional development. The 23rd Nyaya Darpana Lecture Series was held at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies on the theme Role of International Institutions in the Present Day World”. The distinguished guest speaker was Prof. (Dr) T.R. Subramanya, Dean, School of Legal Studies, CMR University.

In his insightful and scholarly lecture, he elaborated on the evolving role of International institutions such as the United Nations, World Trade Organisation and International Court of Justice in addressing pressing global challenges. He emphasised the growing importance of International co-operation in ensuring global peace, economic stability and sustainable development. Drawing from his vast experience in the field of International Law, he highlighted how India’s participation in global institutions reflects its emerging leadership on the world stage.

The presence of Prof. (Dr) Anjina Reddy K.R. added significance to the programme. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who engaged in an enriching session with the speaker.

Mediation Centre

The Mediation Centre at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) promotes awareness and practical training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The Centre provides students with opportunities to develop negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills through academic programmes, experiential learning initiatives and participation in national mediation competitions.

Through visits to dispute resolution institutions, clinical training programmes and competitive platforms, students gain valuable exposure to the practice and procedures of mediation, arbitration and other ADR mechanisms, strengthening their professional readiness for contemporary legal practice.

RVILS Secures Runner-Up Mediator Award at 1st National Mediation Competition 2025

A team from MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) delivered an outstanding performance at the 1st National Mediation Competition 2025, hosted by Presidency University, Bengaluru, on 15th and 16th November, 2025.

Moot Court Academy

The Moot Court Academy at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) trains students in courtroom advocacy through simulated court proceedings, memorial drafting and participation in moot court competitions. Students research legal issues, prepare written submissions and present oral arguments before judges and legal practitioners. The Academy supports participation in inter-collegiate and National Moot Court competitions, helping students develop practical advocacy skills alongside their academic study of law.

The students of RVILS attended a Model Parliament training session organised by the YMCA. The programme was presided over by Mr Harish N., Advocate, High Court of Karnataka, and was attended by the Member Secretary and Chairman of YMCA.

Environment Club

The Environment Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) encourages students to actively engage with issues relating to environmental protection and sustainable living. Through awareness programmes, plantation drives, expert sessions and student initiatives, the club promotes ecological responsibility and environmental consciousness. The activities of the club help students understand the intersection between environmental law and civic responsibility.

Keynote Session on Environmental Stewardship by Team Hasiru

A keynote session was organised on Environmental Stewardship on 9th November, 2024.

The session was delivered by members of Team Hasiru, including Mr. Chirag S. Rao, Founder and Managing Trustee; Mr. Sharath T.P., Founder Trustee; Mr. Shreesha, Volunteer Taskforce Member; and Mr. Srinidhi, Volunteer.

The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS. The session encouraged discussion on environmental responsibility and sustainable practices, and the interaction provided students with valuable insights into environmental stewardship.

Keynote Session on Environmental Stewardship by Team Hasiru

A keynote session was organised on Environmental Stewardship on 9th November, 2024.

The session was delivered by members of Team Hasiru, including Mr. Chirag S. Rao, Founder and Managing Trustee; Mr. Sharath T.P., Founder Trustee; Mr. Shreesha, Volunteer Taskforce Member; and Mr. Srinidhi, Volunteer.

The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS. The session encouraged discussion on environmental responsibility and sustainable practices, and the interaction provided students with valuable insights into environmental stewardship.

World Environment Day – 2024

Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club

The Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) provides a platform for students to develop critical thinking, public speaking and analytical skills. The society organises debates, essay competitions, quizzes and literary events that encourage students to engage with contemporary legal, social and political issues. Through these activities, students enhance their ability to articulate ideas, analyse, make legitimate arguments and participate in meaningful intellectual discussions.

Kannada Rajyotsava Literary Competitions – 2024

In connection with the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations, the Debate and Literary Society and Cultural Club of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) organised a series of literary and cultural competitions from 21st to 23rd November, 2024, to encourage student engagement with Kannada language and literature.

The competitions included:

  • Kavita Baraha Sparde (Poetry Writing Competition) – Theme: Namma Samskruti
  • Aashubhashana Sparde (Pick and Speak Competition)
  • Prabandha Sparde (Essay Writing Competition) – Topic: Gokaak Varadiya Tribhasha Soothradinda Kannada Bhasheya Meladha Prabhava
  • Chitrakala Sparde (Painting Competition)

The results were announced during the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava celebration, and the winners were awarded trophies and certificates in recognition of their participation and achievements.

Siddhanta Constitutional Quiz, 2024

The Siddhanta Constitutional Quiz 2024 was organised to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The poster of the quiz was unveiled on 26th October, 2024 at Yuvapatha, Jayanagar, by Shri Ganapathi Prasanna, Special Public Prosecutor, Directorate of Enforcement, Bengaluru Zone.

A total of 30 teams from various institutes across Bengaluru registered for the competition. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Smt. Lakshmi Iyengar, Senior Advocate, High Court of Karnataka, following which the quiz competition was conducted in three rounds – preliminary round, semi-finals and finals.

Results

  • First Prize: Siddarth and Sushant Patil – KLE Law College
  • Second Prize: Apul Vaishnav and Suvansh Mahajan – National Law School of India University
  • Third Prize: K.R. Shankar Reddy and Priya – St Joseph’s College of Law

The top three teams were awarded cash prizes of ₹20,000, ₹12,000 and ₹8,000, respectively.

 

Siddhanta Constitutional Quiz, 2024

The Siddhanta Constitutional Quiz 2024 was organised to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. Human Rights Cell

The Human Rights Cell at RVILS works to promote awareness and understanding of human rights among students. The cell organises lectures, discussions, competitions and outreach activities focusing on contemporary human rights issues at the National and International levels. Through these initiatives, students are encouraged to develop sensitivity towards issues of justice and equality while strengthening their commitment to constitutional values.

Vision

The vision of the cell is to have the focal point for Human Rights practice in the campus and to be accessible to everyone and also to visualize a comprehensive society where everyone takes responsibility to promote and preserve human rights.

Mission

  • Is to promote, preserve and implement human rights through effective institutional policy development, capability building and control of human rights violations.
  • By supporting each other in and out of the college campus through the awareness of Human Rights and protection of Human Rights by monitoring and accessing the observance of human rights through education and training the students on human rights issues.

Objectives 

  • To educate and create greater awareness of human rights.
  • To create sensitivity and enhance the knowledge of human rights among the people in and around the college by organising various awareness programmes.
  • To educate and train the students on Human Rights.
  • To provide accurate and timely information about Human Rights Violation in India.
  • To respond against the violation of human right issues reported in the college by raising the voice in a proper platform and thereby facilitating the protection of human rights.
  • To study and examine cases of human rights in and around the campus.
  • To work to ensure that basic human rights are respected everywhere.

Role and Responsibility 

  • To foster a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and rights of each individual.
  • To prevent, report and discourage discrimination and harassment by others.
  • To uplift the universal responsibilities of human beings in the society such as ethnicity, nationality, religion or sex.

MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) organised a programme commemorating Human Rights Day 2024 in collaboration with the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC), Bengaluru. The event focused on promoting awareness of human rights principles and contemporary issues relating to the protection of fundamental rights.

Dr. T. Sham Bhatt administered the Human Rights pledge and spoke on the significance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Sri S.K. Vantigodi highlighted practical challenges relating to human rights violations and the importance of legal awareness.

The programme also included student activities such as pencil sketching and collage competitions on human rights themes, with prizes distributed during the event.

SC/ST Cell

The SC/ST Cell of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) works to ensure an inclusive academic environment for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. It provides guidance on scholarships, welfare schemes and institutional support mechanisms available to eligible students. It also organises awareness programmes and academic interactions that highlight constitutional safeguards, social justice and the contributions of historically marginalised communities, encouraging students to engage with issues of equality and representation within the legal framework.

Objectives 

  • To counsel and guide students in their academic and personal issues during college life.
  • To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising from events on campus.
  • To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the Constitution of India.
  • To arrange special opportunities to enhance career growth.
  • To create awareness among students regarding various scholarship programmes of the State Government and UGC.
  • To take measures to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India and UGC.
  • To create and maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment for SC/ST staff and students on campus.
  • To address the issues of staff and students belonging to SC/ ST in the Institute and to prevent atrocities against them.
  • To comply with AICTE regulations for the establishment of the Committee for SC/ST (as per the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, No. 33 of 1989, dated 11/09/1989).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To look into complaints, if any, received from staff and students belonging to SC/ST.
  • To provide adequate relief to aggrieved persons, if any.
  • To spread awareness about the rights and facilities available to the target beneficiaries.

Celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

The SC/ST Cell of RVILS, in association with the NSS Unit, organised a programme on 15th November, 2025, to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, observed annually to honour the contributions of India’s tribal communities and the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.

The event marked the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda and introduced first-year law students to the historical significance of tribal movements in India. The programme highlighted Birsa Munda’s leadership during the Ulgulan movement and his efforts to protect tribal rights and cultural identity. The contributions of Komaram Bheem in mobilising tribal communities and advocating self-determination were also discussed.

The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS and Ms. Bhavana C., NSS Programme Officer and IQAC Coordinator. The celebration reinforced the values of inclusivity, social justice and respect for indigenous heritage among students.

NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit at MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) encourages students to develop discipline and a spirit of national service. Through training activities, camps and community initiatives, the NCC programme instils values of responsibility, teamwork, discipline and physical fitness among students. Participation in NCC also provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and contribute to nation-building.

To promote social, economic, technological and political change in order to expand civilization beyond Earth, to settle space and to use the resulting resources to build a hopeful and prosperous future for humanity.

NCC Students Enrolment Drive (Academic Year 2025–2026)

The NCC Unit of MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) conducted the NCC Students Enrolment Drive for the academic year 2025–2026 in association with 1 KAR Signal Regiment NCC and 6 KAR Battalion NCC, Bengaluru.

The programme was attended by Lt. Col. Kush Shandil, Administrative Officer, 1 KAR Signal Regiment NCC, along with Hav. Harbhajan Singh and ESM Lokesh. The event was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Anjina Reddy K.R., Principal, RVILS.

During the session, Lt. Col. Shandil addressed students on the role of NCC and the opportunities available for cadets. The enrolment process included awareness sessions, physical and medical fitness tests, entrance tests and personal interviews.

A total of 41 students participated, out of which 19 cadets were selected and enrolled, while 4 cadets were placed on reserve.
